Do I need to have played Dragon Age: Origins to understand Dragon Age 2?

I really love all of Bioware's games and many RPG's, but I did not really hear of Dragon Age when it came out. I want to play the original and the sequel but I'd rather not spend too much money. If it was possible, I would just play the sequel if I could understand it. Please help and thank you.Do I need to have played Dragon Age: Origins to understand Dragon Age 2?
Dragon Age II is not a direct sequel. It takes place in a different country, you control a different character and the game only occasionally refers to events in the first game. Events from Origins are narrated near the beginning of the game and there's even more narration to fill you in if you don't import a saved file.Do I need to have played Dragon Age: Origins to understand Dragon Age 2?
You would be able to understand the plot and the setting without too much trouble. DA2 is not a direct sequel, you play a new character and a new storyline. Playing the original would certainly enrich your experience, but it's not necessary.Do I need to have played Dragon Age: Origins to understand Dragon Age 2?
Who knows, it's not out yet.
